Research
We have received four research grants related to turf pesticides. These projects are relevant to local environmental permitting decisions for golf courses as well as FIFRA actions.
- 2005: Grant received from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) to develop a risk assessment tool to aid superintendents in assessing the risks of using a particular pesticide, in coordination with Cornell University, and the University of Illinois.
- 2005: Grant received from Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) to update and expand our previous effort, Cohen et al. (1999), to include additional studies, temporal trends analysis, and include phosphorus in the analysis of water quality impacts by golf courses.
- 1997: Grant received from the United States Golf Associate (USGA) to pubish research regarding calibration and validation of runoff and leaching models for turf pesticides, and comparison with monitoring results (Durborow et al., 2000).
- 1996: Grant received from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) to collect, evaluate, and publish golf course water quality monitoring data for pesticides, pesticide metabolites, carrier solvents, and nitrates (Cohen et al, 1999, and 1997).
