ETS assists pesticide registrants by conducting ground water and surface water quality impact studies and risk assessments. These field and modeling studies can support pesticide registration at the federal and state levels, as well as internal corporate decision making. All field work performed under FIFRA is done in accordance with GLP requirements (40 CFR 160). Some work is also done consistent with RCRA and OSHA requirements, e.g., well installation and soil sampling at potentially contaminated sites. Computer simulation modeling can be done pursuant to GLP on request. Ground Water
Our extensive experience with individual site assessments, coupled with a national perspective, brings a holistic approach to developing mitigation measures for potential water quality problems. Expert Testimony and Representation ETS staff have extensive experience providing expert testimony at the federal, state, and local levels; in trials; before regulatory agencies; and in public meetings. Dr. Cohen has testified before U.S. Senate and House committees on pesticides in ground water. Individual ETS staff are comfortable working in both regulatory and scientific arenas. Dr. Stuart Cohen, CGWP, worked for EPA for 11 years and is the former head of the ground water team in the Office of Pesticide Programs. Three of the staff of seven possess graduate degrees, and four are certified or registered in their respective fields. The staff has degrees in hydrogeology, physical organic chemistry, geology, agricultural engineering, water resources, environmental biology, and turf agronomy. The staff has completed short courses in a very wide variety of environmental courses ranging from habitat management to chemical carcinogenesis. Corporate The company has focused on pesticide assessments, but works with hazardous site assessments, leaking underground storage tanks, and controlled release fertilizers has provided cross training which fosters a more holistic approach to problem solving. Similarly, large-scale projects such as the development of Delaware's State Management Plan lend perspective to our small-scale studies. Conversely, development of Best Management Practices for golf courses and shooting ranges lends a local, site-specific, perspective to national assessments.
