Dr. Stuart Cohen founded ETS in January, 1991. Since that time, it has grown to a staff of seven. The company has worked on projects from Massachusetts to Hawaii, and points in between. ETS' services of providing scientific assistance and expert testimony has been beneficial in assisting companies that are doing their best to comply with increasing regulatory demands. Golf Courses: Hawaii, California (including Pebble Beach), Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, and several other states. Firing Ranges: California, Maryland, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Washington, plus global BMP program for the U.S. Navy. Compliance Guide for Firing Ranges: ETS has written "EPA and OSHA Compliance Guide for Small Arms Ranges: A Focus on Lead." This book is based partly on questions Dr. Cohen and others have received while teaching the NRA's Range Development Conferences. For Compliance Guide information: info@environmentalandturf.com. Publications: ETS has published dozens of articles in both peer and non-peer reviewed literature. See the pages on golf courses, firing ranges, and agricultural pesticides for summaries of our key technical publications. The staff of our young company has an average of over 20 years experience -- and have worked in a wide variety of locations. Stuart Cohen is the President of Environmental & Turf Services in Maryland and is the Study Director of all environmental risk assessments. His Ph.D. is in physical organic chemistry. He has been working in the turf area since 1983 and in the areas of environmental fate and risk assessment since 1976. Dr. Cohen is a Certified Ground Water Professional and is very active in professional societies (NGWA, IUPAC, ACS). He has coauthored dozens of scientific articles, and writes a column for the journal Ground Water Monitoring & Remediation. N. LaJan Barnes is a Hydrogeologist in Maryland. She is responsible for all ground water and geology field investigations as well as computer modeling. She has an M.S. in hydrogeology, is a Registered Professional Geologist in five states and has training in health and safety at hazardous waste sites and Good Laboratory Practices. She has a total of 24 years of geological/hydrogeological experience which include 13 years in the environmental field. Qingli Ma is an Environmental Hydrologist in Maryland. He is responsible for much of the computer simulation modeling as well as the soil sampling. Dr. Ma received his Ph.D. in environmental soil physics from University of Georgia in 1998. He has been working with pesticide fate modeling and risk assessments for agricultural systems for more than 20 years. Dr. Ma is also experienced in modeling pesticide runoff and leaching from golf courses. Dr. Ma has more than 40 publications in refereed journals. Dr. Ma was included in the "Who's Who in America" (2002) and "Who's Who in Science and Engineering" (2003-2004) by the Marquis Who's Who publication board. Stephen Reid is an environmental scientist with ETS. He received his B.S. in Biology in May, 1999. Stephen oversees various aspects of water quality monitoring on golf courses, assists in the development of site-specific risk assessments and best management practices, and supports the scientific team in literature collection and review, regulatory support, state agency contacts, and rare species characterization.
